If you’d like an easier way of dealing with uploading and storing images, take
a look at thoughtbot’s Paperclip or Rick Olson’s attachment_fu plugins.
- Paperclip was deprecated in 2018; they recommend using ActiveStorage. sources: Deprecating Paperclip GitHub - thoughtbot/paperclip: Easy file attachment management for ActiveRecord
- attachment_fu hasn’t been updated since 2009. source: GitHub - technoweenie/attachment_fu: Treat an ActiveRecord model as a file attachment, storing its patch, size, content type, etc.
Suggestion: Replace the last 3 paragraphs in the “Uploading Files to Rails Applications” with examples that use ActiveStorage.
