Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) are starting to get some attention. For instance, Amazon is using it for game streaming service on iOS. PWAs give you the advantages of an app with the freedom of publishing on the web, but they aren’t for everyone or everything. Here are five things to know about Progressive Web Apps.

They’re more of an idea than a thing. The term was introduced by Google’s Alex Russell in 2015 to apply to app-like web technologies. .
PWAs need a manifest.
PWAs need to work offline.
They need something called service workers.
PWAs need security.

PWA’s also require much heavier client work, memory, and storage, than just viewing webpages, while being completely worthless to those of us who most often use terminals and as such non-gui http clients…

/me is really against PWA’s because they make the site basically inaccessible to me
