Can you advise a complete beginner on the best way to manage running processes on linux? Is there any detailed documentation that will tell me everything?

You can read the official documentation from Linus Torvalds, but it will be hard for an outsider person to understand everything there. The documentation has very few comments on how each command works. If you want detailed information on how to check running processes in Linux https://www.hostforweb.com/article/how-check-running-processes-linux/, I recommend that you read this article. It explains the instructions with examples. So you can understand how the command works.
