I am stepping down from Perl Steering Council and Core

Yesterday I had dared to say that people in Core recognize there is
cruft in the language, and that we wish we could remove it, and that
removing some cruft can make our jobs easier, whether we could remove
it or not. This is based on multiple conversations we’ve had in person
at Core Summits (and other conferences) about the complexity of
certain work due to historical cruft and misfeatures, as well as
edge-cases that cut us over the years. My statement should be regarded
as either “correct and not fun to admit to” or “wrong but an
understood mistake” or - more likely - “correct in some contexts but
not others.” Instead, it was yet another opportunity for some people
in this community to bash me…
