Major US Twitter accounts hacked in Bitcoin scam

Looks like a major Twitter breach…

Billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates are among several public figures targeted by hackers on Twitter in an apparent Bitcoin scam.

The official accounts of Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Kanye West also requested donations in the cryptocurrency.

“Everyone is asking me to give back, and now is the time,” a tweet from Mr Gates’s account said. “You send $1,000, I send you back $2,000.”

The tweets were deleted just minutes after they first were posted.

I know this is inconvenient for people who use Twitter, but since I’m not on Twitter myself it’s hard to refrain from laughter.

Yeah it’s even worse than thought, it’s not the accounts that were hacked, it’s the backend admin interface:

Screenshots of questionable things and all. Twitter might be in a lot of legal trouble as it shows that they do precisely what they told Congress what they don’t do.
