It’s a difficult situation, but I don’t think the picture is entirely one-sided. AI has certainly reduced demand for some routine copywriting tasks, especially where businesses only need large volumes of simple content. At the same time, many clients still value writers who can understand a brand’s voice, interview subject-matter experts, verify information, and create content that feels authentic. Those are skills that aren’t easily replicated by automated tools alone. The transition is painful, particularly for freelancers who built careers around high-volume writing, but I suspect the profession is changing rather than disappearing. Writers who adapt by offering strategy, editing, research, or specialized expertise may still have strong opportunities in the years ahead.
