Is SEO Still the Most Reliable Way to Drive Long-Term Traffic?

I’ve seen lots of marketers focusing on paid ads, social media, and even AI-generated content. So I’m wondering - in terms of consistent long-term traffic, is SEO still the primary option to depend on?

For example, I’ve seen some businesses working on digital marketing in Jalandhar getting better results through local SEO compared to paid campaigns. For those of you who are practicing SEO out there, what kind of results have you measured in 2025 compared to other channels? Do you think SEO will continue to dominate, or is it just a trend?

Let’s try to imagine case when you make a 0 SEO “score” and one of the other things you mentioned you do in 100% …

Depends … if you would use Google Adsense and think that it would help you on Bing then you can’t be more wrong. Even if marketing succeed then what’s next? You either work on SEO anyway or push more and more money into marketing. That looks like a hardcore and one way game …

This may be an option, but we can’t say for sure. Some social media sites are old and are less choosen by younger people. Some have very problematic algorithms or rules. If you go 100% on social media and do nothing inSEO then a single ban may destroy your site. You may as well succeed as well as target a group you are not interested in if you choose wrong one.

This is the worst option you can consider. First of all search engines are going to prefer AI responses than actual search results, but it’s not about content on your site - it’s all about the AI controller by the same tech giant that provides a web search.

No matter what content you write or generate if you don’t reach anyone it’s completely useless. That’s why this option is not only short term, but gives you the smallest chance to succeed in my opinion.

I don’t know what this means regardless of how much money they put into marketing. That should be enough as an argument.

How you reach people depends on you specific case, but on the very start you need at least a basic SEO to make your content not be on 2nd or any next search result page. Most of people are not looking so deeply especially for every search result …

The second thing you need is “free” marketing i.e. you reach a specific people like groups on Facebook and you are earning your first money. After that you can consider marketing, but have in mind just putting money in marketing would not give you anything.

I would not be surprised if expert in the topic could explain you various marketing strategies and after paid consultation they would choose the best option for you. I would rather no go wild alone there as there is too much chance to just waste money and gain a wrong experience.

I heard about services that uses AI to do lots of the initial and further staff for you i.e. they track, personalise and target a specific people at a big scale. This may be a good option if you have money at start, but if you don’t or you are just not sure if your site would be a success then you rather start with SEO + free marketing and see how things are going …

Hey, really solid question — everyone’s wondering the same thing right now. From what I’ve seen, SEO is still one of the most reliable long-term traffic sources, even with all the hype around AI content and quick-hit social channels. Paid ads are great for instant results, but the moment you stop the budget, everything drops off a cliff. And yeah, local SEO can be a beast — your example with Jalandhar checks out, I’ve seen similar wins in other cities too.

For 2025, my own results show SEO holding strong, especially when you focus on genuine helpful content and EEAT signals instead of just keyword stuffing.

So yeah, I don’t think SEO is a trend. It’s more like the foundation that keeps working as long as you don’t try to game the system. Curious to hear what you’ve been seeing on your end!
