The step people tend to underestimate isn’t the UI or even the payment integration — it’s compliance. KYC, AML, and PCI-DSS requirements shape a lot of early architecture decisions, and retrofitting them later is far more expensive than designing around them from day one. If you’re evaluating agencies, it’s worth asking specifically how they handle tokenized payment data and fraud detection, not just what payment gateways they support.

Security architecture is the other piece worth stress-testing before committing to a vendor — things like encryption standards, biometric auth, and real-time fraud monitoring should be part of the foundation, not a phase-two add-on.
