I work on aicost.tools, and from the billing side the button-clicking route has one real cost: every step drags a screenshot or a chunk of DOM back into the context, so even a short task can eat more input tokens than the whole API version of it. It’s still worth it when there’s no API at all, but I’d put a cheap small model on the clicking and keep the expensive one for deciding what to click. Has anyone here measured tokens per task for a browser agent against plain API calls on the same job?
