Why learn Racket? A student's perspective

I think Racket is a great first language to learn, but in this post, I’d like to concentrate on programmers, college-bound or otherwise, who have some experience in a mainstream language like Python, JavaScript, or Java, but are hesitant or unsure of the value in learning a functional programming language like Racket.
